If you are looking for something to do for the afternoon and the madness of Disney doesn’t appeal then Southern Hill Farm might be for you. Set back from State Rd 27 the farm boasts events all year round and has plenty of parking and some good onsite facilities – best of all it’s free to just drive up there and chill out on the benches to watch the sunset!
There is a central ‘hub’ as you drive up where some permanent food trucks are parked and the farm does serve some of its own produce through these – the blueberry pie and blueberry beer are rather good 🙂 There’s the obligatory farm shop where you can buy local jams, jellies, raw unfiltered honey, hand-poured candles, handmade sugar scrubs etc. Then there is the raised deck where you can hang out, with a drink from the bar, and watch the sun go down over the fields looking out over Clermont
The farm has something in season year round and you can (for a fee) go picking for a few hours. Blueberry season is extremely popular and you’ll find you eat more than you put in your basket! They do also have sunflowers, zinnia, peach and seasonal vegetables to pick during the year as well. Kids can enjoy the petting zoo, sunflower maze and farm wagon rides.
People use the surrounding for photo opportunities as the backdrops provide a refreshing change from Mickey themed holiday memories.
Check their website for a list of event dates as well. Some events have live music and demonstrations to enjoy. Everything is seasonal so make sure to check before you go so you know whats on offer.
You could easily spend a few hours here and combine it with some other stops around Clermont to make a full day out or just spend the whole day here – bring your picnic blanket and just relax and watch the world go by.
